Sunday, I read Margie Boule's column in the Oregonian newspaper where she wrote about the O'Gallerie's upcoming auction which would include the Alpenrose Dairy's museum items. For about 15 years I had been meaning to check out the auction, so we finally decided to check it out. The place was packed with people checking out items before the sale. There were lots of antique dolls and an impressive collection of phonographs including one by Edison. The staff had never had so many previewers. The power of publicity! Margie should have warned them so that they wouldn't have run out of auction catalogs.
We put in two absentee bids on three day auction. I think our items will come up for bid the first night. It is safer not to be there. We have gotten carried away before at auctions!
This is not a good pictures but I was up on a raised area pointing the camera toward the front door. There were other rooms full of furniture, artwork, glassware and so on. We saw people were knew, so it was a fun time.
