Rockefeller Day; Lithgow Night

Kykuit

Our tour went through Kykuit, the country family estate of the Rockefellers. It is in the Historic Hudson Valley between Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.
I could not take pictures beyond the entry way. Here you see a 2,000 year old Chinese ceramic horse. The home is full of artwork - paintings, furniture, china, etc. (not to mention history). I purchased a book so I could have pictures and information for later. We did not go into the upper floors because the family continues to use the home. It was a tour I recommend for anyone with the time while in the New York City area.

I liked the linden trees.
This is the back of the house.

Gee, you think it was windy?

In the evening, I went via subway to Lincoln Center to see John Lithgow (Lith - GO) at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. He recited a poem his grandmother used to perform for her grandchildren and read/performed a P.G. Wodehouse short story his parents used to read to him and his siblings. He reminisced about his family. It was a personal, enjoyable 90 minutes. I had a celebrity sighting after the show (Marsha Mason).
Joan Marcus (from NYTimes)

John Lithgow in “Stories by Heart,” which is both a primer in acting and a tribute to his parents and a grandmother.
