Eleanor Roosevelt Across a Barrier of Fear

Friday, Robert and I, along with 200 other people, attended the one woman play written by our playwright friend, Sharon Whitney. The play, Eleanor Roosevelt Across a Barrier of Fear was performed by Jane Van Boskirk, for whom the part was written. We thoroughly enjoyed it and were inspired, of course, by Eleanor and what she was able to accomplish despite her fears and lack of nurturing as a child and as an adult. A "finishing" school in Europe was where she found her inspiration and support to be all she could be. One teacher made all the difference. Eleanor truly is our best First Lady, to date. If you have a chance to see any of the works by either Jane or Sharon, you should attend. I sat there thinking how appropriate this play would have been for the state AAUW convention Portland branch is hosting here this month. A state League of Women's Voters would also be a good platform for the play. Eleanor Roosevelt was an active member of LWV.

I didn't take any pictures during of performance, of course, but here is information from the program and copies of pictures displayed cleverly on the nearby piano.
