Goose Hollow Inn for a Reuben Sandwich and Hike
I had never been to Portland's former Mayor Bud Clark's Goose Hollow Inn before, so last Thursday my AAUW Exploring Portland group went there (1927 SW Jefferson). I walked all the way from home and got there just before 11:00 when they open. However, the kitchen doesn't open until 11:30, so the three of us walked up the steps across the street and looked at the view and some homes up on the hillside.
This place looks like it would fall down it it didn't have a metal tower holding it up. I wouldn't even want to go into such a place, let alone rent or own it. There is a price to be paid for having a great view; some structures are not sound.
A home across the way from the one above had a bubble fountain that appealed to me. The house looked great.
Right around the corner from Bud's is this cute gift/card/florist shop. I bought a nice leather coin purse, Linda bought a chocolate truffle, and Mary got a purse. No flowers for us, but the place smelled nice.
While Mary and I were walking back, we found this neat looking building at 852 SW 21st Street that had holistic services and also a Thai restaurant. We both thought it would be good to return there for food or acupuncture. We walked on to Trader Joe's and then REI. I'd say I walked at least 5 miles, but Mary took MAX to Beaverton and then walked for another hour home. She has legs of steel.
