Valentine Dinner at Vindalho

We went out to dinner for Valentine Day. You know that I had Robert wear the appropriate tie all day. If you can't dress up for holidays and special days, why dress at all? I picked Vindalho -Spice Route Cuisine located at 2038SE Clinton Street, "across the river". I drove, since I used to work in that area. We had a great time and plan to return and especially have Scott and Shana go when they come here next time.

I had a type of gimlet. I do need to read my directions on how to focus my camera....

Goan style Mussels steamed in coconut curry with fresh chiles for Robert.

Robert ordered some Naan to help soak up the delicious sauce surrounding the mussels.


My appetizer was the Roasted Pumpkin Samosas with mint & yogurt chutney.




Robert's entree was the Pork Vendalho - carlton pork shoulder braised with chiles, garlic and vinegar. I tried it and detemined I would order it next time.



I ordered the special, Tandoor roasted lamb sirloin with black pepper jus, masala mashed potatoes and grated carrot-cashew relish. Wonderful flavors!
Our table was next to the kitchen which made it perfect for me to jump up and take pictures of food after it had been plated and waiting to be served. Below you see samples of what you can order if you go there.
The towels on the plate to the right are used to clean the plate so it looks pretty when served. The chefs were very busy since it was Valentine Day, but they looked very much in control.














Next to our little table was another couple. The woman was my age and looked like someone I would love to know. She had brilliant red hair, that was not a color by Clairol, if you know what I mean. She had fun, flashy jewelry and her legs either had the most impressive tattooing or great tights. I kept glancing over. Finally, right before our dessert was served, I told her I loved her legs. She told me she got the tights from tightsplease.com from the UK. These tights are no longer available, based on my research later. What fun I could have wearing those. I am going to search some more for them. I would need the woman to help me put my entire look together, though. Dig her shoes!!




After taking pictures of the tights worn by the lady next to us, I turned to our table and discovered Robert had eaten half of our shared dessert before I even saw the plate! I am sure it was beautiful to behold. So, just imagine Chocolate Banana Samosa with Spiced Creme Anglaise. Those pastry samosas were full of chocolate and the sauce was perfect. If we lived closer, it would be a perfect place for an after play dessert.
