We Flew To Sitka, Alaska on Thursday

We flew out at 9:30 a.m.  from Portland to Seattle on Horizon, then had a short layover in Seattle. Our destination was Sitka, where our son, Scott, his wife, Shana and genius child, Madison, live. We used our free passes to try the Alaska Board Room. What a difference from sitting with the maddening crowd we are used to. This extra fee membership gives you lots of space and comfortable chairs to do business. Robert had lots of time to talk to his office and read his Blackberry. We found newspapers,  coffee, pastry and juice for the taking. Then, after hearing people talk about Mimosas, I inquired at the little bar areas if the Mimosas were complimentary. They were! I got two ordered up right away.

When we come to visit, we always like to bring a few gifts, often food items from Trader Joe's and baby toys and specific requsted items. Robert has long wanted to bring Scott's old Yankee Clipper sled. The packaging wasn't pretty, but it was good enough for Alaska Air. Good old duct tape did the trick.

Madison enjoyed sitting with Pilot Mark after eating dinner at the Coast Guard Station Officers' Dining Hall. Shana and Mark were on duty for the 3 pm to 3 pm shift. After awhile Madison did get tired.
