What a Thrill This Day!

I picked the Museum of Contemporary Craft to visit Wednesday. Neither Mary, Linda nor I had never been there and didn't even know what we would see. Turns out there were two shows, all excellent: Glass: Melissa Dyne in a small space downstairs and upstairs, Generations: Ken Shores. I was not allowed to take any pictures, but took pictures of photos inside the program!

The 50 years of work by Kean Shores is not to be missed.

We were mesmerized by his many ceramic pieces that have feathers embedded or attached to them. You MUST go to the museum, if you can, to see them. Located at 724 Northwest Davis Street, Portland.

Here is a picture of one of the rooms in Ken's home looking into yet another room. He has so many fabulous items and has decorated his home full of that lifetime of collecting. The museum show has three huge pictures of the interior of his home.
In the evening, Robert and I went to the Portland Art Museum's Asian Art Council Annual Meeting and Dinner at Waverly Country Club. We had a drink and chatted with people and then sat down at a table we had preselected that had room for us and had a good view

I sat down at the table, took a breath and looked across to the opposite side of the large, round table and whom did I see, but KEN SHORES. I screamed his name. His head shot up! I proceeded to explain that I had just seen his fabulous retrospective at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts and LOVED it. I told him how my two friends would be SO jealous! He looked pleased but a bit taken aback. I didn't care. It was such a serendipitous moment.
