Friday, on the way to the beach, we stopped to celebrate and give our sympathy to Ross
Fogelquist, Honorary Oregon Vice Consul for Sweden, now that Sweden in great error decided to close the Swedish Consul in Portland. Sweden's new government is claiming that it is saving money, when in fact, they gave Ross no money. Everything he did, which was a great deal, was done using his own money. Ross was the Consul for many, many years and at age 70 continued as Vice Consul, but now that position no longer exists. He will have the title
Honorary Consul Emeritus, now.
We always enjoy going to
Ross's home, called
Fogelbo, which, from pictures below, you will see is a museum really. He will be giving all his wonderful collection to the local Swedish community in his estate. His 2 acre yard is lovely, too, although I took no pictures of it.
