And the 2008 Drammy Award Goes To....

When I learned the the Drammy Awards were to be held last night, I knew I needed to change my plans and instead of going to Bright Lights at Jimmy Mak's, to walk to the Chrystal Ballroom instead. I told Robert to meet me there.
We had a light "Happy Hour" meal at the Ringlers Pub down stairs of the Chrystal Ballroom while we awaited the start of the 29th Drammy Awards for Portland Theater. Having never attended this before we weren't sure what it would be like, but now recommend it for anyone who regularly attends theater. It is fun to get caught up in the joy and excitement. I saw actors I had seen in different shows and could appreciate all the hard work by all those involved in every aspect of a production. After all I did become a Thespian at Corvallis High School!!

Look hard at my earrings. Can't tell what they are can you? I forgot to show them to anyone.

I occasionally wear these earrings to the theater. Those who know me know I like to "dress to the theme".

Ellyn Bye and Joan Hayward sat at one of the two Portland Center Stage tables. The PCS Studio Theatre will now be named the Ellyn Bye Studio to honor her $1.5 Million gift to the Capital Campaign. To learn more about Ellyn and other more than generous donors click here.
Actresses and mother-daughter team Vana O'Brien and Eleanor were our mistresses of ceremony.

Presenters were asked to share a joke before handing out three awards. Most jokes were great.

Chris Coleman, Artistic Director, accepted many awards on behalf of others who do not live in Portland but were involved in successful Portland Center Stage performances.
Robert guessed that there were 500 people present.

This award winner had the prettiest dress of the evening.

This baby was at the table in front of us. He was extremely well behaved. His parents would cover his ears to protect his hearing during loud applause.

We saw this married couple recently in Artist Rep's Nobody Here But Us Chickens.
Third Rail's Grace won many accolades. I should have followed my friend Mary Shaw's advise and gotten season tickets. We missed this one.
