February 5, I met Robert at Kenny and Zuke's Deli prior to going to the Portland Center Stage's play The Feminine Ending in their smaller theatre. I got to the Deli in time for the $2 beers, but didn't like my IPA. I haven't had beer in a long time, but realized that I really need to stick with Hefeweizen, which, unfortunately, they didn't carry.
I ordered the Fried Kreplach - Meat-Stuffed Dumplings with Caramelized Onions and Sour Cream. I liked eating this, and should have shared it, but ate it all myself. Oink. Oink.
Here is PLT (Pastrami, Lettuce and Tomato) sandwich Robert ordered. He said is was, "Okay." He wouldn't order it again. We could have shared it, because it was huge.
For dessert I ordered a coconut macaroon (dry) and a rugelach. Robert wasn't satisfied and went to the carry-out area and got a great, moist, gooey brownie we shared.
A Feminine Ending by Sarah Treem, Directed by Timothy Douglas as described in the Play Bill:
The hit of the 2006 JAW: A Playwrights Festival, A Feminine Ending centers around a brilliant young oboe player caught between two visions of her future: her own musical career or that of her fiancĂ©, a rocker whose star is rapidly on the rise. In her search for answers, Amanda journeys home to face the sources of her ambivalence: a mother who frequently leaves her husband and returns to him without his even knowing she’s been gone; and The Boy Next Door who’s grown into an independent and intriguing young man. Funny, fresh and surprising, this beguiling romantic comedy written by a talented young playwright, Sarah Treem, will have everyone talking.
