Busy Saturday on the Coast

This is the white cake with butter frosting and raspberry and almond filling that Jim Dobbins make for us. I think this is the last of the one dessert a month auction item I bid on and won a year ago. I knew the four of us shouldn't eat it all, so I invited our dear friends at Bella Beach to join us. We sang Happy Birthday to Robert and Don and then ate cake and drank coffee.

Pat is looking forward to listening to a singing group at Big Mountain Coffee tonight (next to Lincoln Beach Sentry). The Brothers J perform funk, reggae and other American music styles. We should have joined them, it turns out....

Paul and Dat are listening to Liz's every word.

Arlyn Hummel and Jean Watkins yuk it up.

Dat and Paul now have a "new dog", Miss Red. She is a 7 year old dachshund. She is a sweetie. After eating cake we headed out for an adventure.
Don and Liz Oswalt checkout the Super Surf Competition - Nelscott Reef Tow-in where jet-skis pulled out surfers and took them to large waves near Lincoln City. We watched for about 30 minutes.

It is always fun to stop off at the Inn at Spanish Head and go to the bar for a drink and watch the surf. I had a Grey Coast, Don and Liz had Bloody Marys and Robert a Coffee Nudge.

We decided to eat at the Kernville Steak and Seafood House. We had reservations for 7:15, but had to wait until 7:45 to be seated. The people at our table were lingering. If we had just gone down stairs to the smoke free bar with the band, we could have been served quickly.

I didn't care that much for my sirloin steak and your usual vegetables. I don't think I am a steak person. Liz ordered the seafood fettuccine with marinara sauce instead of Alfredo sauce. Robert had the New York steak with German potatoes. Don had pork loin.
If I go there again, which I doubt, I'll go at lunch time and get a hamburger.
