Bus and Walking Tour of Nashville

We took a Gray Line Tour of Nashville and saw the skyline which included one building the bus driver called R2D2 and the other the Bat Cave. The bus tour is described as including: " Historic Downtown, Fort Nashborough, the State Capitol, the Parthenon, Music Row and Studio B (home of over 100 top ten hits of Elvis Presley), Bicentennial Mall and Vanderbilt University. We also had a self-guided tour through the new Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and the 'Mother Church of Country Music,' the Ryman Auditorium, then a drink at Legends Corner on Honky Tonk Row.

For some reason Nashville decided to build an exact replica of the Parthenon. In the basement, apparently, there is a museum.

A popular night spot. See the list of all the artists who have performed there.

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers have an office building in Nashville. While we were there they had their big 45th Annual ASCAP Country Music Awards. Lots of country music writers were in town for the event that honored Kenny Rogers among others.

The capitol building is very modest looking. I took the self guided tour after having an awful lunch in their cafeteria. They had a nice brochure for the tour and I couldn't help but wonder if our capitol had one.

Union Station Hotel was beautiful to see. If we were to come to Nashville again and stay downtown, this would be the place for us to stay. You can see why. Robert and I walked here and to the Frist Art Museum. The Frist had a great show where I was too busy looking and forgot to take any pictures.
