Book Group for September

I got lost going to Barbara's. My mistake was using Mapquest and taking the Canyon exit. My Garmin wasn't working because I set it while in the underground garage. It didn't know quite what to do. However, with help from Barbara and my cell phone I made it to her house. Martha wasn't there in the car to help and Beth Paul left me and moved to Atlanta. Beth used to drive us.... It took me 45 minutes to get there and 10 minutes to get home.

Tasty salad and a great bean/vegetable dish made by Barbara and Doris' two different corn breads were the exact menu that I figured Linda and I would make for next month's book group dinner, just different recipes. Boy it was all so good!

Doris made a yummy peach dessert.

Barbara lead the discussion on Red Water by Judith Freeman for lively comments from us all. Of the three women featured in the book about early Mormons, we had different favorites. It was intriguing to learn about John D. Lee, who was in Brigham Young's inner circle. We agreed it was a rough life in the middle of Utah. Reading about women in a polygamist relationship was a new one for the group, or at least for me. The beautiful descriptions of the geography and scenery was felt to be another main character. It seemed that we agreed that it was a good selection.
