
Today was the opening for Cup Cake Jones at 307 NW 10th Ave. If you want to read about what it took to get the store built and opened, click on their blog here. They state on their menu that they bake from scratch daily, never use shortening, make their own marshmallows, candy their lemon and orange peel, use pure bourbon Madagascar vanilla, use Amarena cherries imported from Italy, and more! Jumbo cupcakes (size you think of for a cupcake) are $3.25 and mini ones are $1.50. This place is much closer than St. Cupcakes at 17th and Flanders, where we go sometimes after church. When Linda Stern and I arrived, they had run out of some of their cupcakes, but we had plenty of choices. I got the Mimosa : orange yogurt cake, filled with orange champagne pastry cream, iced with champagne buttercream and a strawberry "floating" on top.
