I attended the free lecture by
Sally Squires Saturday morning at the
Linus Pauling Institute's conference. I had been getting her
Lean Plate Club column by e-mail from the Washington Post for over a year. Then it stopped; maybe I deleted it since it is in the Oregonian now and will soon be in the Statesman Journal. Last Sunday, I saw a small ad about her lecture in the paper, and showed up way too early for it. She didn't say anything I didn't already know (I just don't do all that I know to do) , except that I need to make sure I am getting enough B-12. Also, weight gain over the holidays for a healthy person is .8 of a pound, overweight people gain 5 pounds. So, we know where I fit in.... She was an excellent speaker. The place was full of experts and their comments and questions made it interesting. The huge ballroom was at about 40 degrees the entire time. I bought her book for her to sign.
