Bad Dates was a Good Date

We just returned from Portland Center Stage, seeing the great play Bad Dates. It is a one woman show that zooms along, with no intermission. We were home before 9:30. Show starts at 7:30 pm, claiming to be 1 hour 40 minutes. Maybe a little shorter. I recommend it for everyone. I think women might enjoy it a little more then men, but hard to say. The actress changes clothes about 30 times, and puts on that many shoes. Great outfits. She has pretty underwear, nice body. Great dialogue. Just a fun evening, I thought. Below is from the program:

Described as “a comedy for anyone who has ever been on a bad date — or been one,” this off-the-wall, one-woman comedy is one of the hottest tickets in American regional theater today. The play casts everyone in the audience as the confidantes of Haley Walker, a 40+ single mom from Texas who manages a chic Manhattan restaurant run by the Romanian mob who finds herself on a series of really bad dates. Refusing to give up hope of ever finding Mr. Right, Haley opens her heart (and her closet) up to anyone who will listen and takes us on the roller coaster ride which is her life. Bad Dates is a must for anyone who yearns for another new episode of Sex in the City or who wonders what women talk about when there are no men around.

They don't have the bar downstairs when there is no intermission, so we got our seats (general admission in the little theatre) and went upstairs to get our drinks. Who walked in, but John and Dace Berzins. We had free drink tickets we gave them to use, chatted a bit and went down to our show. It is so fun to see people we know from Salem when we are out and about. I was sorry I didn't have my camera to share how nice they looked.
